Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the macOS app Riptide: Download Manager (the "App"), provided by Tran Minh Luan ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. If the two conflict, these Terms apply to the extent the law allows.

License to use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App on Macs you own or control, subject to these Terms and the Mac App Store terms.

What you download is your responsibility

The App is a tool that fetches files from links you provide. We do not host, choose, review or endorse any of those files, and we have no control over the servers they come from.

• Only download files you have the right to download. You are responsible for complying with copyright law and with the terms of the websites and servers you download from.
• Do not use the App to overload, attack or get around the access controls of any server, including through the batch, pattern, parallel connection or mirror features.
• Files from the internet can contain malware. macOS checks downloaded apps when you first open them, but you remain responsible for what you open.
• You will not reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the App except as permitted by law.

Free version and daily allowance

The free version includes a daily allowance of completed downloads and a limit on connections per file and downloads running at once. The current limits are shown in the App. Failed and cancelled downloads do not count against the allowance. The allowance has no cash value and the limits may change in future versions.

Riptide Pro

The App offers an optional one-time in-app purchase, Riptide Pro, which removes the daily allowance and unlocks the features described in the App. It is not a subscription. Purchases are billed and processed by Apple through your Apple Account, subject to Apple's payment terms and refund policies. You can restore a purchase from Settings > Riptide Pro in the App.

Intellectual property

The App, including its code, branding, and design, is owned by Tran Minh Luan and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license above, no rights are transferred to you. Files you download belong to their respective owners.

Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Download speed depends on the server and your network, and we do not guarantee that any server supports parallel connections or resuming, or that the App will be uninterrupted or error free.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tran Minh Luan is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, files, or profits, arising from your use of the App or from the content of any file you download with it.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
