In short: Riptide collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no telemetry. Your links, your history and your settings stay on your Mac.

This Privacy Policy describes how Tran Minh Luan ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the macOS app Riptide: Download Manager (the "App").

Your downloads stay on your Mac

Files you download travel directly from the server you chose to your Mac. They never pass through us. The links you add, your download history, your queue, your schedule and your settings are stored only on your Mac. We run no servers that receive any of it, and we cannot see what you download.

The servers you download from

To download a file, the App connects to the server in the link, the same way a web browser does. That server sees the request, including your IP address, and handles it under its own privacy policy. The App reads the date that server reports in order to keep the daily allowance accurate; that date stays on your Mac.

No account required

The App does not ask you to create an account or sign in, and it does not ask for your name, email address, contacts or location.

The daily allowance record

The free version allows a number of completed downloads per day. To count them fairly, the App keeps a small record containing a random identifier created on your Mac, today's date, how many downloads you completed today, and when the App was first used. It holds no personal information and nothing about the files you downloaded.

• It is stored in your Mac's Keychain and in the App's own storage on your Mac.
• If you use iCloud Keychain or iCloud, a copy is kept in your own iCloud account through Apple, so the count is the same on each Mac you use. Apple handles that data under its own privacy policy. We cannot read it.
• This record is not sent to us and is not used to track you.

Because the record lives in your Keychain and iCloud, it can remain after the App is removed. You can delete the local copy in Keychain Access by searching for "com.luantran.downloadmanager".

Folders and files

The App saves to your Downloads folder by default. When you choose another folder, macOS gives the App permission for that folder only, and the App remembers that permission on your Mac. The App does not read other files on your Mac.

Clipboard

The App reads the clipboard only when you paste into it, for example with Command V. It does not watch the clipboard in the background.

Notifications and Shortcuts

If you allow notifications, the App shows local notifications when a download finishes or fails. The Shortcuts actions (Add Download, Pause All, Resume All) run on your Mac. Neither sends anything to us.

Purchases

The App offers an optional one-time in-app purchase, Riptide Pro. Purchases are processed by Apple through your Apple Account. We do not receive or store your payment details; the App only receives the confirmation from Apple needed to unlock the features.

Advertising, analytics and tracking

The App contains no advertising, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, and no third-party tracking of any kind. It does not use your advertising identifier.

Children's privacy

The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your choices

You can remove any download from the list at any time with Remove from List. Deleting the App removes its settings and history from your Mac. Files you already downloaded stay wherever you saved them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
